FACILITIES
BOAT HOUSE:
The boat house is a 72 ft. long by 40 ft. wide timber
building divided into two bays and capable of holding all boat sizes from
Singles to Eights. It has 12 ft. usable vertical wall space along each
side of each bay. The boat house is located in Lakeside Park in Nelson
about 150 ft. away from the access ramp to the boat launching dock.
The NRC currently uses one bay of this building, with the other being
used on a temporary basis by the Nelson Canoe and Kayak Club.
DOCK:
The dock consists of two 40 ft. long by 10 ft. wide sections made of
cedar
logs and decked with treated lumber. These sections are tethered to steel
piles and move up and down with the changing lake levels. (the West Arm
of Kootenay Lake goes through a 10 to 12 ft. change in typical years).
It is connected to the shore by a structural steel ramp (66 ft. long by
6 ft. wide) . The use of the dock is restricted to the NRC and other approved
users.
