KOOTENAY
LAKE ROWING TOUR
The Nelson Rowing Club is pleased to host the Kootenay Lake Rowing Tour,
September 3-6.
This event is part of
the 2010 Interior Rowing Series and is designed to gather rowers from
BC and beyond together to share in the wonderful experience of touring
on Kootenay Lake.
Our plan is to make The
Tipi Camp, located on the east shore of Kootenay Lake our home base for
three nights and to row daily from there. The Tipi Camp is operated as
a retreat throughout the summer and is an ideal site from which to explore
the fantastic scenery, many beaches and natural world of our large and
beautiful lake. The camp will accomodate up to 30 people and is equipped
with adequate cooking,
dining and sleeping facilities. There are 4 large
tipis which each sleep 6-8 people as well as room for tents. The camp
has no road accesss (we will row to the camp from the ferry
landing at Crawford Bay) and we will have a camp manager and caterer to
prepare all of our meals for the duration of the Tour
Thanks to the help of the Kelowna and Salmon Arm Rowing Clubs as well
as the RCA Touring Fleet we are able to offer spots for up to 27 rowers.
All of the boats used in the Tour will be touring boats.
The cost per person is estimated at $400. for the tour. This price includes
each participant's contribution to boat rental
and trailering expenses as well as accomodations and meals. It is recommended
that participants have a minimum of 2 yrs rowing experience and are currently
active in rowing. There are many options for each day's outings including
some fabulous beaches and wonderful local points of interest. More details
will be supplied to those who express interest in joining the Kootenay
Lake Rowing Tour 2010.
